Madhya Pradesh’s minister Narottam Misra was followed by Girish Gautam (the speaker of the state legislature) who also expressed dissatisfaction with Shah Rukh Khan s forthcoming film Pathaan. Many politicians have condemned the film’s first song, Besharam Rang. The internet even suggests that there is a communal element to the costumes of the two leads.
Monday marks the beginning of the five-day session at the MP state assembly. Gautam addressed the state about the controversy Pathaan sparked. Many, including leaders of the state, claim that the film is offensive to their religious sensibilities. “Shah Rukh needs to see this film with his daughter. Upload a picture of the scene and tell the rest of the world that he is. Gautam suggested that Gautam make a similar film about the Prophet and have it run. The microblogging site Twitter has seen the hashtag “Boycott Pathaan”, trending ever since. Pathaan has been released in theatres on January 25, 20,23.
